Its 12:00 on a Monday night and I'm doing homework, when it hits me......HUNGER! I look in the cupboard and find the closest things with carbs. I would like to say that this only happened to me that Monday night, but sadly that's not the case. This seems to happen to me....every night:)
I don't know what comes over me at this time of night, but I seem like I'm not alone. I recently saw a Special K commercial, where another lady was fighting her late night hunger (but it was satisfied with a bowl of Special K, ha). I've talked to my other friends and it seems that this is becoming an epidemic, because they also have the same problem. I really feel that , in my case, it starts by me staying up so late. If I was in bed before 12, theres no way I could eat! Also, if I ate more frequently throughout the day, maybe I would be more full at night. I've really been trying to find ways to end my habit. I also found a video o YouTube.com that has some really great tips on reducing binge eating late at night. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0fUg0GwpSU!

While your body definitely does require more calories when you are more active during the day, which for most people is typically during the morning and afternoon hours, if you are working out in the evening or even if you just lead a fairly active lifestyle, it will actually hinder you if you don't eat late at night.

A few months ago I started having the same late night cravings. I would eat every 3 to 4 hours throughout the day but my problem was that I would get in bed to read and before I knew it, it was 1am and I was hungry. I eat dinner around seven so so by 1am I was hungry again. So I would go into the kitchen and get pretzels and eat and I was reading and before I knew it I had eatten alot more than I planned on. So for the past month I have been cold turkey stopped myself I will not allow my self to eat that late at night it is just not good for my body and if I would go to bed sooner than it would not be a problem.
I was having the same problem last week! It was horrible, but I was eating a very small breakfast, a small lunch & snack and then at dinner time I would eat and before I knew it I had eaten enough for 3 dinners! I then started adding more to my breakfast and lunch. Instead of waking up and eating a small granola bar, I added a banana and some yogurt. I also added a snack in between lunch and dinner. It really does help and it also keeps your metabolism going! Now when I eat dinner my body isn't starving and I can be done after I eat 1 portion.
